Fun New Service from One Guy's Investments
The One Guy's Investments Empire is expanding!
I'm always curious about all the investment spam I get every day -- not the penny stock scam emails that are no more interesting than misspelled v!@gra ads, but the ads from investment advisors and services. Some of these are quite reputable, like Ken Fisher or the Motley Fool, some I've never heard of, and I expect some are total scams.
The main reason I always find these interesting is that they often tease you with one great investment idea that they'll share with you if you just sign up for a free (or not so free) trial, giving them your address and maybe a credit card number, and maybe being forced to proactively cancel some subscription service in the future.
But I'm always curious -- what is that stock they're teasing us about? So I often try to find out.
And after studying search logs of incoming traffic to this site, I can see some of you are trying to find out, too (for some reason, this site ranks fairly high for people searching for "Motley Fool and the next Genentech" or some kind of promo like that.
So I'm going to try to decipher these stock teases -- they almost always give you enough information in the promo for an interested researcher to track down what company they're talking about.
And while it's probably a waste of time, for an oddity like me it's fun.
So that's the new service -- I check the massive wave of investment spam I get every day, find the emails that promise to reveal the name of the next hot investment IF ONLY YOU'LL DO THIS ONE THING.
And I'll tell you what that investment is. I won't tell you whether it's good, I'm not going to analyze the companies in any depth, but I will identify them if I can.
