Canadian-listed geothermal stocks climbed sharply Monday, a move that market watchers attributed largely to the upcoming initial public offering of Magma Energy Corp. Magma, a Vancouver geothermal company headed by Ross Beaty, filed a preliminary prospectus last week in preparation for its IPO.

HTM, NGP (NGLPF on OTC), ORA, PGTHF, SRAGF, WHPWF all mentioned in the article.
Disclosure: I own shares of NGLPF, and I can confirm it's been going up like a rocket lately. Past performance has no guarantee of future performance. Your mileage may vary. Do not taunt Happy Fun Ball. (Still legal in 17 states!)
I picked NGLPF oner HTM whn I got onboard with geothermal, NGLPF is steady rising but the rocket has been HTM since opening new plant and announcement of Obama giving stimulus money to HTM.
Yeah... well... That's the way it goes. But I feel that "green" energy is getting a boost in the US and CAN because of the "stimulus" law. I do think NGLPF is a good company. They're 1-3 months ahead of schedule, which means less interest on loans once the new plant comes online... assuming something else doesn't cause the schedule to slip.
And also, I believe Ormat is involved with some of the construction on the Blue Mountain plant.
Please don't leave out RZ, and I'm just saying; the ceo that plants lips on bam bam rear, get the stimulus money. That announcement is a large part of their price increase.
I like NGP/NGLPF better. They've got full financing for the Blue Mountain plant and a good balance sheet. Barring any great misfortune, they should start earning money soon.
How are RZ's balance sheets? I haven't researched them yet. :(
I still like ORA, it has a global reach and id being heavily touted on the free email that comes from green chip. It's expensive but geothermal is a cash intensive biz, and Ormat has money.
