this is from Keith Fitz-Gerald Editor, The New China Trader
It costs $995 to find out what's on the shortlist. One company is a carbon filtration company, this company is one of only a few that have the technology proven to eliminate air and water contamination from coal-fired plants.

Already this company has long-term air and water treatment contracts with many of the 250 multi-national companies that have set up shop in China.

Better yet, its filtration systems work for air pollution, potable water treatment, industrial and municipal wastewater treatment, groundwater remediation – even mercury removal, among others. , one is a water treatment company. This company recently agreed to build the biggest wastewater treatment plant in the country, in Shanghai. And it just signed a new contract with the city of ShenZhen for services worth $12 billion. , plus the Most Efficient Solar Panels in the World: This company’s breakthrough technology creates more electric output per cell than other in the industry. And yet Wall Street has yet to notice this pioneer, focusing on the bloated consumer electronic giants instead. But we haven’t. Look for this energy pick to jump 220% in the next 90 days…

Meltdown-Proof Nuclear Energy: One company is about to eliminate the final obstacle to making nuclear energy the global leader. From now on, cue-ball-sized fuel cells will power nuclear plants. It’s a revolution in technology. The government recently appointed this company to provide all the power for the entire eastern region, including Shanghai and Beijing. All systems are “go” for a 104% ride in the next 12 months.

Transforming Utilities and Telecoms: As the major integrator of solar components for utility and telecom firms, this company is set to explode sales. According to Standard & Poor’s, net revenues are expected to rise 70% this year alone. With production plants already in place and easy access to Chinese markets, it’s set for a 91% trajectory in the next 9 months.

Blocking Out Noise, Locking in the Heat: Using this company's cutting-edge 3-D software, developers can site skyscrapers--even angle individual windows--to trap in the heat, and block out noise and dust. That allows China's builders to save up to 30% on energy spending. This company’s about to become a steady river of growth. It stands to leap 57% in the next 90 days.

A Superconductor 150 Times More Effective Than Copper: This company has the key to revolutionizing China’s power grids. Why? It found a way to build high temperature superconductors that can carry 150 times more electricity than standard copper. China just signed it to 3 multimillion-dollar contracts. This one stands to pop by 74% in the next 6 months.

    What are these companies?

I think the first one might be Calgon Carbon

Meltdown-Proof Nuclear Energy: HNP poured concrete (or was meant to at least) for a nuclear pebble reactor earlier this year. The CEO (or similar) is the son of an ex-premier. This is a Ken Fisher pick from October time (down a bit from then). Not sure whether the other statements match HNP, but I shouldn't think there is another co doing it.

re the cabon filtration. Anyone come across the "Skymine" system, as far as I can see you can't invest.

the water filtration is, I'm fairly certain, CCC like littlepearl said. It might possibly be BWTR, but I'm almost certain its CCC.

The super conducter might be CPTC...Composite Technologies....not really sure, just a guess.

    Skyonic is currently private (SKYmine)

Okay, here's your list. All good buys, in my opinion. (I own shares in all of them :) )

The carbon filtration is definitely Calgon Carbon (CCC). The key is the contract with the city of Jiaxing. You can see it on CCC's Web site.

The water company is Veolia. They have contracts to provide water to Shenzhen and Shanghai. (I LOVE this company and have owned it forever.)

Meltdown-proof nuclear energy is definitely Huaneng (HNP), which is doing the pebblebed reactor.

Solar integrator: Suntech Power (STP). (The company offers a range of PV cells and modules. It also provides PV system integration services in China. Its products are used in a variety of residential, commercial, industrial and public utility applications, for both on-grid electricity generation and off-grid use, such as lighting for street lamps, garden lamps, telecommunications relay stations, and mobile phone networks.)

Blocking out noise using 3/D technology: Autodesk, which is going great guns in China.

    Superconductor: FSIN (Fushi International)

Hsu has had a sell reco on HNP for about a month. another longer term play on China's nuclear ambitions might be Westinghouse or Areva...These are not Hsu stocks but both have either signed or about to sign contracts with the Chinese govt

This is my first post on the forum, so here goes...
I don't see anything on the Veolia site about a contract to build China's biggest wastewater treatment facility in Shanghai. I would think it would be a big announcement for them. Could it be a different company?

Hi, Deirdre. If you do a google search on Veolia and shanghai, you'll see all sorts of announcements, news, etc. about their deal with Shanghai. Here's a link to one:

All six of the Chinese enviro companies are up today, some quite substantially. CCC and FSIN are both climbing. But hey, you didn't have to pay $995 to Mr. China Trader to get these cos.

    Superconductor is AMSC, not FSIN

STP is there as PV cells suppliers, but solar intergartor is TSL.
  6.  Report Post# 15
Look at the performance charts, and you'll see that STP is way outperforming TSL, with none of the volatility shown by the other Chinese solar companies, and FSIN is stomping AMSC. So we're doing better than the tease. :) And a bargain here in the Gumshoe emporium of free advice.

As far as the Superconductor part goes, it should be AMSC. They are the only one to claim high temp superconductor wires that have 150 x the capacity of copper wires. But I don't see on their website that they've signed any contracts with China for it. They also do wind turbine equipment (their other division) with which they have signed contracts with China. Most of their income is from the wind turbine division at the moment and they don't expect to be GAAP profitable until 2009.

CPTC Composite Tech does sell wire into China but only claims 2 x current capacities but it could also be a nice play on China's electrical grid build out. They also sell wind turbines.

FSIN Fushi has really moved up nicely recently but I don't think they're the ones in the teaser. Their only claim is that they use copper and aluminum in their bimetallic wires which reduces cost along with being a Chinese company - I'm not aware of any increase in capacity.

I would think the idea is to make money, and if that means improving on the teaser, when the info may be either flawed or stale, all the better.

WWP, I agree with you totally. I own FSIN and recently sold STP for a nice profit. Part of the fun on this site is trying to guess the teasers as well as suggesting other stocks to make everyone money. Love this forum as most others seem to end up in the gutter. This forum offers great ideas and feedback - your opinions are insightful and much appreciated.

I was surprised to see all of these comments dated at the end of 2007, because Money Morning THIS WEEK just came out with the same article. Are they just recycling 6 month old information?
